The military stated that they suspect the hostages were murdered on Wednesday Aug. 28 the day prior to the discovery of their bodies.
The first public statement about the discovery was released by the military on Saturday Aug. The next day the military began removing bodies after checking for traps in the tunnel according to Admiral Hagari.
The tunnel located 20 meters underground had cheerful images on its walls and a vertical shaft opening in a room.
The captives were held 120 meters from the shaft behind a heavy iron door in a low ceiling arched concrete tunnel.
The Hostages Families Forum informed the families of six captives about the Israeli military investigation.
Admiral Hagari referred to the conditions as an utterly horrific reality. According to him some families found their briefings disturbing as they struggled to witness how their loved ones survived and were killed in those circumstances.
